An effort to recall Sheriff Edward Cudihee occurred in King County, Washington.[1]
The recall effort resulted in the court case Cudihee v. Phelps, in which the Washington State Supreme Court stated that, "It may be that the courts have jurisdiction to determine the sufficiency of the statement of the allegations made as a cause for removal if presented in a proper proceeding...but the trial of the question of whether such cause actually exists, and as to whether the officer shall be discharged shall be had before the tribunal of the people."[2]
