Governor Scott appoints judge to Fourteenth Circuit Court
April 25, 2011
Florida: Last week, Governor Rick Scott appointed Shonna Young Gay to serve on the Florida 14th Circuit Court. She will succeed Judy M. Pittman when she retires on May 31, 2011.[1]
Of the appointment, Governor Scott said, "Throughout the course of her legal career, Shonna has gained a vast range of experience that I believe will allow her to review every case she presides over with diligence, fairness and integrity."[1]
Before joining the court, Young Gay will have spent her legal career in both public and private service. She served as an assistant state attorney from 1994 to 2000. For the next eleven years, she worked in private practice, though for a time she also served as a civil traffic hearing officer.[1]
In 2012, Young Gay must run for election to the seat if she wishes to continue serving. [2]
