Florida: The First Appellate District Judicial Nominating Commission in Florida is considering candidates to succeed two judges. The first, Charles Kahn, resigned his post to become a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. The second is Peter Webster, who will retire from the court on June 1, 2011.[1]

The commission will select at most six nominees to fill the vacancy of Kahn. It has until April 30 to chose the nominees to send to Governor Rick Scott for consideration. The governor will ultimately decide who will join the court.[2][1]
