Michael Thorwart is the Region 7 member of the Council Rock Board of Directors in Pennsylvania. The seat was up for general election on November 3, 2015. There was a primary election on May 19, 2015. He filed to run in both the Democratic and Republican primary. Thorwart won the Republican nomination and advanced to the general election.[1] Michael Thorwart won the general election on November 3, 2015.

Thorwart obtained his bachelor's and doctoral degree in chemical engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He currently works as a senior research scientist at a defense contractor. He volunteers at his church and at the local youth sports association. He has previously served on the Parent Advisory Committee for the district.[2]

Five of the nine seats on the Council Rock Board of Directors were up for election in the general election on November 3, 2015. There was a primary election on May 19, 2015.

Region 1 incumbent Bill Foster and Region 2 candidate Edward Tate won election without opposition. Region 4 incumbent Wendi Thomas (R) defeated challenger Richard Wilkinson (D). Region 5 incumbent Jerold S. Grupp (R) won re-election against challenger Leslie Rothberg (D). Michael Thorwart (R) defeated Michelle Held (D) in the Region 7 race. No independent candidates filed for the election.[1]
