Pankaj Jain
Pankaj Jain was a candidate for Place 3 representative on the Coppell Independent School District board of trustees in Texas. The general election was held on May 7, 2016. Jain was defeated in the general election by incumbent Anthony Hill.[1]
Biography
Jain is an assistant professor in the anthropology department at the University of North Texas. He is a published author and has presented his research at a variety of universities. Jain obtained his bachelor's degree in computer science at a university in India. He went on to earn a master's degree in religious studies from Columbia University. He also earned a doctorate degree in religious studies from the University of Iowa.[2]
Elections
2016
Three of the seven seats on the Coppell Independent School District school board were up for by-district general election on May 7, 2016. Place 1 incumbent Susie Kemp did not file for re-election. Newcomers Mary Duran and Leigh Walker faced each other in the race. Bac Cao Nguyen, Jonathan Kirby, and Jill Popelka filed to replace incumbent David Apple for the Place 2 seat. For Place 3, incumbent Anthony Hill faced challengers Pankaj Jain, and Ronald Hansen. There was no primary.[3]
Walker defeated Duran in the Place 1 race while Popelka took the seat in Place 2. Hill won his re-election bid defeating Jain and Hansen.[4]
