Three seats on the Quincy Public Schools School Committee were up for general election on November 3, 2015. Incumbents Paul Bregoli and Kathryn Hubley won re-election, while James DeAmicis joined the board. The seats of incumbents Bregoli, Hubley and David McCarthy were up for election. Bregoli, Hubley and DeAmicis were the only candidates to file for these seats.[1][2]

Quincy Public Schools is located in east-central Massachusetts in Norfolk County. The county seat is Dedham. This county was home to 687,802 residents in 2014, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] In the 2011-2012 school year, Quincy Public Schools was the 11th-largest school district in Massachusetts and served 9,236 students.[4]
Demographics
Norfolk County outperformed the rest of Massachusetts in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 49.2 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 39.4 percent for Massachusetts as a whole. The median household income in Norfolk County was $84,916, compared to $66,866 for the state of Massachusetts. The poverty rate was 6.6 percent, compared to 11.4 percent for the entire state.[3]

Voter and candidate information
The Quincy School Committee consists of seven members, six of whom are elected at large to four-year terms. The seventh member and chair is the Mayor of Quincy. The general election was held on November 3, 2015. Three seats were on the ballot in 2015.[2]
Individuals interested in running for the board began circulating nominating petitions on May 5, 2015. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the 2015 general election was August 4, and the deadline to withdraw from the race was August 20. Each candidate had to file a nomination petition to the Board of Registrars for certification and certified petition to the City Clerk.[6]
