Thomas Merrick was a judge for the Southeast Judicial District of North Dakota. His seat is one of two created by the North Dakota Legislature in 2009 and is chambered in Jamestown.[1] He was appointed in 2009 by Governor Josh Hoeven.[2][3] He announced on January 7, 2016, that he would retire at the end of December 2016.[4]

Merrick ran unopposed for the seat to which he was appointed to on the Southeast Judicial District in 2012.[5][6]

Education

Merrick earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo. He received his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1983.[2]

Military service

Merrick served in the U.S. Air Force, where he achieved the rank of captain.[2]
