Henry S. Cohn

Henry S. Cohn is a judge for the New Britain District Superior Court in Connecticut.[1] He was appointed to the bench in 1997 by Governor John G. Rowland.[2]
As of 2013, Cohn served on the Tax Court, located at the New Britain District Superior Court. At that time, the Tax Court was authorized by statute to hear appeals for many tax-related issues, including appeals from orders of the Department of Revenue Services, orders of the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management, appeals of municipal property tax assessments, and appeals relating to hospital taxes, cigarette taxes, motor vehicle fuel taxes, and others.[3]
Education
Judge Cohn earned an undergraduate degree in 1967 from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1970.[4]

Noteworthy cases
In 2009, Cohn notably upheld a ruling from the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission that city attorney Carl Nasto pay a fine of $400 for violating the state Freedom of Information Act. "The basis of freedom of information laws is that the public has the right to examine any public record created and retained by a public agency," Cohn wrote.[6]
