Judith A. Stewart was a judge for the circuit court of Brown County in Indiana. Stewart first joined the court in 1991, and re-joined the court in 2000 after serving as a United States attorney for the Southern District of Indiana from 1993 to 2000. She retired in December 2018.[1]

Education

Stewart received her undergraduate degree in English and German from Butler University.[2]

Career

Stewart clerked one year for federal judge Harold Baker before returning to Indianapolis to practice law in general civil litigation with Lewis, Bowman, St. Clair and Wagner. In 1988, she became referee of the Brown County Circuit Court for Judge Samuel Rosen. Stewart was next elected to the Brown County Circuit Court and took office January 1, 1991. In 1993, President William Clinton (D) appointed Stewart to serve as the United States attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, where she worked until 2000. Stewart has served as judge of the Brown County Circuit Court from 2000 to 2018.[2]

2012 election

Stewart ran unopposed for re-election in 2012, and was successful in her bid.[3][4][5]
