Denise Sher is an acting justice of the Nassau County Supreme Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. She also served on the New York Court of Claims. She was appointed to the Court of Claims by former Governor George Pataki in 2006 and was appointed an acting justice that same year.[1][2]

Education

Sher received her B.A. degree from Queens College in 1975 and her J.D. degree from the Hofstra University School of Law in 1978.[1]

Career

Sher began her career in 1979, working at the Mental Hygiene Legal Service of the New York State Appellate Court Division. She then worked as a Hempstead Town Attorney from 1980 to 1994 and as a private practice attorney from 1990 to 1994. In 1995, she joined the Nassau County District Court bench. In 2001, she became President of the Board of Judges for that court. She was also the Supervising Judge of the court in 2005 and 2006. She joined the Court of Claims and Supreme Courts in 2006.[1]
