William Lafferty is a judge on the United States bankruptcy court, Northern District of California. He was appointed on April 20, 2011, succeeding Judge Randall J. Newsome. His current term will expire on April 19, 2039.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Lafferty earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of California at Hastings.[3]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Lafferty began his legal career as a law clerk to Judge Thomas E. Carlson of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California. He then joined the law firm of Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin P.C., where he eventually became a member of its partnership ranks, serving as the director of the firm's bankruptcy and reorganization practice group.[3]
