Jalilah Otto
Jalilah Otto is a judge for Division 15 of the Missouri 16th Judicial Circuit Court. Her current term ends on December 31, 2030.
Otto ran for re-election for the Division 15 judge of the Missouri 16th Judicial Circuit Court. She won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Otto was appointed by Gov. Eric Greitens (R) in October 2017 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Robert M. Schieber.[1]
Biography
Otto earned an undergraduate degree from Tulane University and a J.D. from the University of Missouri.[1]
Otto's professional experience includes work as a special assistant U.S. attorney and as the chief trial assistant in the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office. She has also served as a member of the Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness, the Joint Commission on Women in the Profession, the Joint Task Force on the Future of the Profession, and the boards of Amethyst Place, the Kansas City Youth Court, and Lawyers Encouraging Academic Performance and Awesome Ambitions.[1]

Missouri held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 2, 2016. The filing deadline for those wishing to run in the primary was March 29, 2016. Judges running in a retention election on November 8 had to file by August 23.[2] Jalilah Otto was retained in the Missouri 16th Circuit, Division 26, Associate Judge election with 64.95 percent of the vote.
