My name is Amanda Sampaio Bova and I am running for Orange County Judge. I am passionate about service and I want to serve as Judge to give back to the community where I was born, raised, and where I have practiced law for the past 15 years. I started as a Public Defender in Orange County where I gained invaluable courtroom experience. I later founded and ran my own firm practicing criminal defense and family law. I have personally taken over 40 cases to trial and I have extensive courtroom experience. The breadth of my experience combined with my compassionate demeanor make me the best option in my race. Throughout my entire career I have been dedicated to serving our community in one way or another. Not only am I Board Certified, a credential which only a 7% of eligible Florida attorneys hold, I’ve held leadership positions and have been recognized for my contributions and service to the community. I am also a mom of a beautiful daughter and the wife of a hard working small business owner.
  • I am someone who cares deeply about our community. My goal is to do everything I can to ensure that the courtroom is a place of fairness, and to uphold the notion that the courts belong to the people. I believe that when we treat people with respect and fairness, we build trust and confidence in our justice system, and that small acts of patience and understanding can provide assurance to both intimidated first-time litigants and also repeat users of the legal system.
  • I am the candidate with the highest credentials and the most qualifications. I attended top rated schools for both undergrad and law school, I am Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law, and I am also AV rated by Martindale Hubbell. I have served on many local voluntary bar association boards, I was appointed to serve on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, and I was appointed by the Mayor of Orange County to serve on a local advisory board.
  • My work ethic is unmatched and I owe that quality to my parents who started a small auto air conditioning business here in the 1970s called Car Cool. I witnessed them work hard every single day, but more importantly, I witnessed how they treated their customers fairly and built a reputation of kindness and fairness to customers which was often rare in that industry.
I am passionate about mentoring new lawyers and law students. Mentorship is so important in so many ways. Having a mentor helps to mold new attorneys into great lawyers that in turn can help the public. I am also passionate about reducing recidivism and I would seek to ensure that criminal sentences are structured in such a way to give people the guidance they need to reform their lives and become productive members of society.
I look up to my parents for their empathy, kindness, and compassion. I look up to my husband for his patience, his temperment, and his intellect. I look up to my daughter for her joyful spirit and desire to learn.
I remember one of the space shuttle launches when I was in elementary school.
My first job was as a babysitter. I babysat for children in my neighborhood for several years as a teen.
