He's been Judge in Port Angeles and Forks District Courts, Drug Court, Juvenile Court, Family Court and was selected by the Governor to replace Superior Court Judge George Wood. A founding member of Pro Bono Lawyers, he helped fund legal services for the poor throughout his career. Restored his office building placed on the National Register of Historic Places, he provided space for 20 young lawyers to assist them with their practices. What's he most proud of? Organizing Save Sol Duc Hot Springs in the 1970s. Raising thousands of dollars to help fund indigent legal services through his BarTrek legal seminar. Helping develop the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Court to assist individuals and families to turn their lives around. Performing hundreds of wedding ceremonies and acting in local theatre for PALOA, PA Players and Olympic Performing Arts. Helping keep Hurricane Ridge skiing alive. Brian operates a ranch raising sheep and chickens and organic vegetables. His son Cody operates the local ToadLily International Hostel and son Ty is a video producer and film maker.[2][3] |

Elections
2016
Washington held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. Candidates for district and superior court seats had to file for election by May 20, 2016. Primary elections were held on August 2, 2016, for six seats where more than two candidates filed for election. Brian Paul Coughenour defeated Dave Neupert in the Clallam Superior Court nonpartisan general election for Position 2.[4]
