Norris Cochran is the forming acting secretary of health and human services in the Biden administration. He assumed office on January 20, 2021.[1] He left office on March 19, 2021, after Xavier Becerra was sworn into the office.[2]

He previously served as the acting secretary during the Trump administration.[3]

Biography

Cochran earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and master's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.[4]

Cochran began working for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent in Atlanta in 1996. He entered senior executive service at the Department of Health and Human Services in 2006, including serving as the deputy assistant secretary for budget.[5]
