Morton ran in a special election to the Montpelier City Council to represent District 3 in Vermont. Morton won in the special general election on March 1, 2022.

Morton was appointed to the city council on September 1, 2021, to replace Dan Richardson who resigned his seat to become the city attorney for Burlington.[1][2]
