Georgia governor signs ethics reform bill

Atlanta, Georgia: Gov. Nathan Deal (R) signed into law the first ethics reform bill to pass in the Georgia State Legislature in the last few decades. The bill establishes a maximum on lobbyist gifts to legislators of $75, although three lobbyists can combine to provide a gift of up to $200 for one lawmaker. The legislation also restored the power of the Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission to collect fines, an ability it was stripped of in 2009.[1]
