Georgia: On Friday, April 16, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue named attorney Amanda Mercier as judge to the Appalachian Judicial Circuit. Mercier is a partner in the law firm of Ralston & Mercier and was one of the first defense attorneys associated with the circuit's drug court. In response to her appointment Mercier said, "I’m very excited. It’s a lot of responsibility, but I’m very excited, too."[1]

The date her appointment will be effective has not been announced at the time writing.[1]
