LOUISVILLE, Kentucky: Chief Justice Jeff Taylor of the Kentucky Court of Appeals has asked state police to investigate a confidential abortion rights ruling that was leaked to the Louisville Courier-Journal.[1] The newspaper discovered that the court had ruled 2-1 that minor girls from other states may seek a Kentucky judge's permission to have an abortion without parental consent. The court's ruling reversed an earlier district court ruling. State police have asked the Courier-Journal to reveal its source, but the newspaper has invoked the state's reporter shield law. The investigation was initiated despite opposition from judges Denise Clayton and John Minton, who believe the matter had been resolved internally.[2]
