Legislature considers new judgeship in Wyoming

The Judicial Update

March 15, 2012

Wyoming: House Bill 26, which is being considered by the House Appropriations Committee of Wyoming, seeks to add a new judgeship to the state's 4th Judicial District Court. The new judge would sit in Buffalo and preside over the counties of Johnson and Sheridan. The bill was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee already. The Wyoming Supreme Court calculated that the current 4th Judicial District Judge, John G. Fenn, does the work of 1.7 judges. Johnson County Commissioner John Gibbs and Johnson County Attorney Ken DeCock are in favor of the bill.[1][2]

UPDATE: The new judgeship was approved. The judge is expected to be appointed and take office in the late summer of 2012.[3]
