January 13, 2011

Colorado: Judge Julie Kunce Field was sworn in to the Colorado 8th Judicial District on January 12, 2011. Voters had ousted Judges Jolene C. Blair and Terence A. Gilmore in November, so Gov. Ritter appointed Field to fill one of these vacancies. She previously worked as the executive director of the Confidentiality Institute and as a mediator with the Colorado Office of Dispute Resolution. She called the judicial appointment a "huge, huge honor". Stephen Enderlin Howard and Thomas R. French were also appointed to this court and will take office this month. The new judges will face a retention election in 2012.[1]
