OMAHA, Nebraska: State Senator Ken Haar is recovering at home this week after suffering a mild heart attack. Haar, 70, was cutting down trees when he became faint. He spent the night at a Lincoln hospital but surgery was not necessary. Haar's office says the senator is expected to recover and return to the Capitol next week. Haar, who was re-elected to a second, four-year team in November, is a leading environmentalist in the Legislature. He was the first senator to call for a special session to re-route the Keystone XL pipeline around the state’s groundwater-rich Sand Hills area.[1][2][3]
