Judith S. Claire

Judith S. Claire is a former judge of the Chautauqua County Family Court in New York. She joined the court in 1999. She also began serving as an acting justice of the Chautauqua County Supreme Court in 2001.[1] Claire retired in June 2016.[2]

Education

Claire received her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in 1972 and her J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1975.[1]

Career

Claire began her career in 1975 as a staff attorney for the New York State Health Planning Commission. The following year, she became a staff attorney for the Mental Health Information Service, Appellate Division. She then entered the private practice of law in 1978, serving as a partner of VanEvery and Claire through 1991. From 1992 until her judicial election in 1998, she served the supreme court as a matrimonial referee.[1]
