Campaign themes

2017

Murphy's campaign website included the following themes for 2017:

Roads
Folks in unincorporated King County are footing the entire county-roads bill, so it’s no wonder we’re coming up short $260 million every year. As your representative on the County Council, John will work across the aisle to secure equitable funding of our roads and give people choices for how they get around King County.

Transportation
People shouldn’t have to choose between spending time with their families and being stuck in traffic. John will fight to bring back the express bus service, which so many of us have depended on to get to work. He will ensure our traffic patterns are common sense and focused on getting people where they need to go.

Growth & Development
We all moved here or stayed here because of the natural beauty of the Puget Sound region. John plans on working to keep it that way. Economic development and preserving our environment don’t have to be mutually exclusive. We can protect our open spaces, maintain our parks, and prevent pollution and degradation from destroying our rivers while expanding access and opportunity to Eastside residents.[3][4]
