and prepare to be informed.
The reality
When you sit down to research what’s on your ballot, we don’t believe you should have to open 30 different web pages from 20 different websites to find out what district you’re in, what races are up for election, who’s running, and what a “yes” vote on that ballot measure would really mean.
Ballotpedia provides all that information in one spot—so all that time you would otherwise spend searching for what’s on your ballot can instead be spent reading encyclopedic articles, analyzing the candidates’ views, and deciding how you should vote.
Candidates with context
A list of names can only take you so far. Ballotpedia’s sample ballot allows you to click through to our articles on each candidate and ballot measure, arming you with the information you need to cast an informed vote at the polls. From the presidential race to school board elections—and all the state ballot measures in between—our sample ballot pulls from over 15,000 candidates running in over 7,400 elections to show you what’s on the ballot for your registered address. Get details on the elections we cover for your area below.

Accuracy
A sample ballot tool is only as good as its accuracy. To guarantee that your sample ballot will match your actual ballot, our team performs a variety of tests for each state, including running a random assortment of different addresses and manually checking each result. We do not settle for anything less than 100 percent accuracy. If you see any issues with your results, please contact us!
Method
Ballotpedia's sample ballot tool pinpoints your address on a map to find which districts your home lies within. It then checks to see which elections are happening in those districts and pulls information from our database on all the candidates running in those elections, plus all the measures on the ballot in your state.
Ballotpedia has been compiling information about American elections for nearly 10 years. Our professional staff personally collects information from news articles, candidate websites, official state and local election websites, and organizations to maintain over 265,000 articles in our online encyclopedia.

The future
This year, there will still be some offices on your ballot that we don’t have covered yet. (For example, small town mayors and sheriffs will not be included on our results.) There are over 507,000 officials in the United States, and we hope one day to cover them all.
