I will continue to demand governmental transparency to assure that our school district is utilizing our tax dollars responsibly. Four years ago, I pledged that I would hold school administrators accountable to the community for our children's education. Today, you can see progress to that end. An entire new cabinet exists under the leadership of Mr. Martin Galindo. However, the district seems to take a few steps forward, with the hiring of Dr. Myrna Cote, but many steps back, with the re-hiring of Norbert Genis. The status quo board majority continues to drive the district back to low scores, nepotism and cronyism. Much work has been accomplished but so much more needs to be done. |

El Rancho Unified School District is located in the Southeast Los Angeles County, California in Pico Rivera, California. It is located in the largest county in California. According to the 2010 Census, it is home to 62,942 residents.[3]
Demographics
Pico Rivera underperforms the rest of California when measured on the basis of median household income, percentage of residents over the age of 25 with a high school diploma, and percentage of residents over the age of 25 with a Bachelor's degree. Pico Rivera outperforms the rest of California when measured on the basis of percentage of residents living below the poverty level. The median household income in Pico Rivera was $55,632 compared to $61,632 for the state of California. 10.4% of Pico Rivera residents aged 25 years and older attained a Bachelor's degree compared to 30.2% in California. The United States Census also showed the poverty rate in Pico Rivera was 11.5% compared to 14.4% for the entire state. The United States Census also found that 66.2% of Pico Rivera residents aged 25 years and older attained a high school degree compared to a 80.8% in California.[4]
