Madison County School Sales Tax Implementation (April 2011)
A Madison County School Sales Tax Implementation measure was on the April 5, 2011 ballot in Madison County.
This measure was defeated[1]
This measure sought to implement a 1 cent sales tax in the county in order to benefit the schools in the county. The money would have helped with building improvements, pay for additional staff and help ease property taxes. Though opponents of the measure noted that there was no guarantee property taxes would be reduced or that the tax would ever expire. Proponents stated that the sales tax would generate more money so there would be a reduction in local property taxes.[2]
