There was a Opelousas City Sales Tax Renewal on the November 14 ballot in St. Landry Parish for voters in the city of Opelousas.

This measure passed with 75.91 percent of votes in favor of it.[1]

This measures sought to renew a 1 cent sales tax that is used currently to help fund police and fire protection and also public works projects. Voter turnout is estimated at a low 7 percent, but officials believe those who work for either the police of fire department will show so they can help ensure the tax gets renewed. If it is not renewed the current tax will expire next year. If it is renewed if will be in place for a further 15 years.[2]
