A vote about whether to recall Vernon Woods from his position on the city council of Piedmont, Oklahoma took place on August 13, 2013. Vernon Woods was recalled.[1]

Background

The recall effort against Woods was led by Pam Suttles, who was part of a group opposed to a plan to construct large wind turbines in the region of the city. She contended that Woods was in negotiations with wind turbine developer Apex Development to locate the turbines in Woods' ward and that Woods was not discussing it with local residents. Woods acknowledged that he had talked with Apex Development, but stated he was only trying to find a solution to satisfy proponents and opponents of the turbines. Woods also stated of the recall effort, "They hired me, they can fire me."[2]
