An effort in Bradenton, Florida, to recall City Councilmen Gene Brown, Patrick Roff, and Bemis Smith from their positions was launched in October 2016. A political action committee (PAC) called Recall Them All Bradenton started gathering signatures on October 1, 2016.[1] The recall effort ended due to insufficient signatures in late October 2016.[2]
Recall supporters
Recall Them All Bradenton is a PAC for the Stone Soup Unity Community, a community group fighting against a development project at Glazier-Gates Park. The group sought recalls for three of the council's five members due to city support for the project. Councilmen Gene Gallo and Harold Byrd Jr. were not targeted for recall because they were on the November 2016 ballot.[1]
Recall opponents
Smith told the Bradenton Herald that he was surprised by the recall effort given his opposition to the development project. Brown and Roff did not offer public comments about the recall as of October 3, 2016.[1]
