Recall supporters
The Rebuild Nelsonville Committee sought a recall election against Koons in the aftermath of a March 28 altercation. Koons and fellow council member Taylor Sappington argued over a procedural question following an executive session. Vicki McDonald, a member of the committee, filed recall paperwork with the council that cited "neglect of duty and conduct unbecoming to an elected official."[1]
Recall opponents
Mike Brooks challenged the committee's recall petition during a city council meeting in April 2016:
“ |
Let’s take care of the city’s business. Let’s come together as a city, as a city council and put this petty stuff behind us. The city’s in trouble. It needs leadership. It needs leadership from you. It needs leadership from a new city manager. We need someone who has a vision. Somebody who plays offense, not defense.[1][3] |
