Dave Davis was the Area 3 representative on the Rapid City Board of Education in South Dakota. Davis sought another term in the general election on June 7, 2016. He was defeated in his re-election bid by challenger Ron Riherd.[1][2]

Two of the seven seats on the Rapid City Area School District school board were up for by district general election on June 7, 2016. Area 3 incumbent Dave Davis faced Ron Riherd and Thomas Udager. In Area 6, David Phelps, Paul Sterling, and Amy Policky challenged each other in the race.[1] Ultimately, Area 3 incumbent Davis lost his re-election bid to challenger Riherd while Policky took the seat in Area 6.[3]
