Donna L. Shumate was a 2014 candidate for the 23rd Judicial District of North Carolina.[1]

Shumate ran for election to the 23rd Judicial District.
Primary: She was successful in the primary on May 6, 2014, receiving 24.5 percent of the vote. She competed against Fred Bauer, Tracie McMillan Jordan, Regina Gillespie, and Robert Crumpton.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 48.8 percent of the vote. She competed against Robert Crumpton. [1][2] 

Judicial performance evaluation

In July 2014, the North Carolina Bar Association released the results of a survey in which it asked lawyers to rate the judicial candidates for the trial courts. The candidates were rated from one to five on five different criteria as well as on their overall performance.[3]

Education

Shumate received her undergraduate degree in Russian-East European studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990. She received her J.D. degree from Campbell University in 1993.[4]
