Hilary lives in Waterville with her husband, and two teenage sons, who attend Waterville public schools. She is a graduate of Kenyon College and The Pennsylvania State University. She began her career as a teacher, working with students at all educational levers Pre-K through college.

Hilary was a caregiver for her 99 year-old grandfather, who lived with her family and recently passed away. She is also a caregiver for her youngest son, who was diagnosed with hydrocephalus at the age of 6 months and type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 ½ years. For more than a decade, she has been a "pancreas" for her son, learning not only how to care for his medical needs, but also how to fight to get the care, the medicine and the supplies to keep him alive. In 2016, frustrated by the lack of advances in medical technology, Koch joined a worldwide open-source and built her son a "Do-It-Yourself Artificial Pancreas System." Through this project, Hilary has learned that when people find common ground and shared goals, true innovation and successful problem solving happens.

From teaching literacy to adults, to working with children in the foster care system, to helping people suffering from opioid addiction, community service has always been central in Hilary's life. She believes communities thrive when we work together.
  • Ensure every Mainer has access to affordable and quality healthcare and prescription drugs.
  • Strengthen public education, including trade skills
  • Repair our economy
Hilary knows Mainers are struggling to put food on the table. Hilary has learned that when people find common ground and shared goals, true innovation and successful problem solving happens. Hilary believes that a happy and healthy life for every Mainer should be a guarantee, not a hope. We know that people want to live in Maine; Hilary wants to make sure people can stay here. She is running for Maine State Senate to repair our economy, strengthen our health care system, and ensure every child has
access to quality education.
Hilary's very first job was at a local restaurant, first working as a busboy, and later as a waitress.
