My name is Mishon D. Montgomery and I am a passionate, award-winning motivational speaker, trainer, strategist, and coach. A United States Air Force Veteran with 20 years and 9 days of honorable service, I have experience driving social impact initiatives and excel in leveraging leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) concepts to create cultures of belonging in an equitable and accessible manner producing long-term sustainable change. Proudly hanging my boots in North Las Vegas, I am a wife, mother, dog mom, business owner, advocate, and candidate for Nevada State Assembly, District 17.

I enlisted in the United States Air Force on 22 October 2002 and my service has taken me all over the world, supporting multiple Major Commands, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle. Despite my various travels, it was Nevada, specifically, North Las Vegas that I decided to finally call home.

I hold a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Policy & Governance and maintain DEI Certifications from Cornell University and Coach Diversity Institute. I have also earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, am a Certified Master Resilience Trainer, Motivational Speaker, and Life Transformation Coach. An eternal optimist, I consistently marvel in the deliciousness of life.
  • I am committed to ensuring that every Nevadan has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare. I will support measures to expand Medicaid, improve access to mental health services, and lower the cost of prescription drugs. I know the importance of increasing public health funding and understand that infrastructure is key to a successful healthcare system in Nevada. In Carson City, I will fight to increase accessibility, lower costs, and improve healthcare services.
  • As a proud LGBTQ woman, I am committed to being a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ community and for reproductive rights and freedoms for all individuals. I believe in safeguarding access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare services, including contraception and abortion, ensuring that every person has the right to make their own healthcare decisions without interference from politicians or restrictive legislation. I will work to build long term equality so that people have the right to live openly without discrimination, enjoy equal rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of choice and expression. In the legislature, I will be a strong voice for women and the LGBTQ community taking on any extremists who attack these freedoms in Nevada.
  • I fully support increasing funding for our education system, increasing teacher pay, lowering class sizes, and recruiting qualified teachers so that our children receive the best education possible. I know that Nevada youth are our future and every child deserves access to high quality education so that they can dream big and succeed.
