Medina graduated from Elsie Allen High School and attended Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University. He is a lead eligibility worker with the Sonoma County Human Services Department, a member of the Education Task Force of the North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP) and represents SEIU local 1021 on the NBOP Leadership Council.[1]

Three at-large incumbents, Bill Carle, Frank Pugh and Ron Kristof, were up for re-election. They defeated challengers Mike Kallhoff and Omar A. Medina to win new terms in office.
