I am the mother of two children in Loudoun County Public Schools and a professional in the field of special education with over 20 years of experience in developing individualized education and behavioral treatment plans to meet the needs of each child with whom I work. I have built my personal life around my family, and my professional life around meeting the socially significant needs of children and their families. In essence, children are my life. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst working with children on the autism spectrum, I possess a keen awareness of the importance of listening to parents when it comes to what they value most in terms of skills their children need to learn to become more independent and improve the quality of their lives. My ability to listen to parents and advocate for children's needs equips me with the skills necessary to be an effective school board member.
  • Loudoun County students deserve to learn in an environment free of identity politics. Let's prepare students for the future instead of prioritizing special interest groups.
  • Parents have a fundamental right to the education and upbringing of their children. They know their children best, and their individual values must be respected and protected.
  • School systems must prioritize the needs of educators over the desires of highly paid consultants and special interest groups who stand to profit off children, yet time and again, produce little to no measurable results.
I am passionate about the development and implementation of education policies that reduce government overreach and bureaucratic bloat and place the power in the hands of those most closely associated with children as stakeholders.
Properly allocating funds in the best interest of the functioning of schools to assist in the production of quality education for students, developing a vision or strategic plan that includes measurable goals and objectives relevant to the entire student body, making decisions about curriculum, hiring and holding the superintendent accountable for carrying out the will of the board, and establishing and maintaining clear policies that can be used to hold administration and staff accountable in their positions.
Properly allocating funds in the best interest of the functioning of schools to provide quality education for students.
Students, parents/caregivers, and taxpayers in Loudoun County
Loudoun County Public Schools includes over 80,000 students and their families. Respecting individual needs/desires of parents when it comes to the education of their children requires careful consideration of policy language and the avoidance of one-size-fits-all practices and procedures.
As a former special education teacher with experience working in public school systems, it is important for board members to remain invested in acknowledging and identifying with the needs of those who work most closely with students on a daily basis (teachers/staff members) and how their vital work can be supported and amplified by community partnerships. In particular, community-based participation is critical for students with special needs, especially as they begin the transition process. Continued partnership with organizations in Loudoun County will enrich and maximize opportunities for teachers and students.
Special interest groups have developed curriculum, training opportunities, and produced consultants who are pushing ideological beliefs into school systems across the country. This detracts from the true intention of our public school systems, which is to educate children to prepare them to be future productive citizens of our country. I reject identity politics making its way into school curriculum and I do not support the adoption of such materials or trainings.
As a parent of children in the school system, I understand the importance of caregiver involvement in education. Parents must have a seat at the table and be given opportunities for participation in their children's education. This involves consistent engagement with parents through multiple platforms.
