Thoelke answered questions for the KSOO 1140 website:

1) What is one of the best things about Sioux Falls Public Schools?

The teachers! We have the most dedicated and talented teachers.

2) What is the most pressing matter that should be addressed in the school system?

Teacher pay and teacher retention

3) What is your position on school year start times?

I was elected to do what is best for all students regarding education. I feel like the calendar needs to stay the same of maybe pushed a little bit later if all the pieces fit together, however that is what the calendar committee is charged with. I truly want what is best for the students.

4) What is your favorite childhood school memory?

Helping my mom (2nd grade teacher) do bulletin boards and grading quizes [sic] after school

5) For a student who is struggling with that one class, what advice or encouragement would you give?

Hang in there! Speak with your counselor and see what your options are or possibly find a student/friend that may be better in that one class.[4]
