My name is Sena Loyd; I was born and raised outside of Sacramento, CA. I received my Bachelor's in Anthropology with a minor in Holocaust, Genocide and Peace Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007, and a Master's in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University 2009. I was appointed as Director of the Carson City Library in 2014 and managed a balanced budget and staff, which supported 1,300 visits each day from Carson City residents. In 2018, I was responsible for a significant building refresh project for the Library interior, which was completed under budget and increased efficiency, capacity, and accessibility for training, meeting, and collaboration. This same year the Carson City Library was named among the top 14 libraries in America by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. While at the library, I was appointed to serve under Governor Sandoval on the Commission on Educational Technology. I have volunteered my time on the Western Nevada College Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada Advisory Council, and on the board of Emerge Nevada.
  • I will maintain an open-door policy, as ALL constituents deserve to have their voices heard and be represented.
  • I will work with fellow legislators, public and private sector leaders to reimagine revenue streams on our new economy to shore up budget deficits currently impacting education, health, and human services, and other vital state services.
  • I will support the evaluation of Nevada's redistricting process to maintain a transparent and bipartisan method for creating our districts.
I believe that we can get more done together. Any opportunity to address an issue with public policy should be approached in a bipartisan manner to support discussion and inclusion.

I want to help bring people together. There is currently enough division in the world that we need to be able to come together on important local issues.
My very first job was as as a babysitter. I did this on and off through high school and college.
Right now? Thank You For Being Late: An Optimist Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations by Thomas Friedman. It is a a relevant look at the world today.
I believe that it can be helpful to understand the processes, however, having an open mind, willingness to listen, and ability to think creatively and innovatively can overcome obstacles.
