Willie Rivera was a member of the Bakersfield City Council in California, representing Ward 1. Rivera assumed office in 2013. Rivera left office on December 16, 2020.

Rivera ran for re-election to the Bakersfield City Council to represent Ward 1 in California. Rivera won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

He was first elected to the council in 2013 in a special election to replace Rudy Salas, who vacated the seat in 2012 after being elected to the California State Assembly.[1][2] Rivera resigned on December 16, 2020, to pursue a career with Aera Energy.[3]

The city of Bakersfield, California held elections for city council on November 4, 2014. Wards 1, 3, 4 and 7 were up for election.[5] The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was August 8, 2014. In Ward 1, incumbent P. "Willie" Rivera defeated Manuel Ramirez.[6][7][8]
