James A. Spruill

James A. Spruill is an active/retired family court judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] He was elected to the court in 1989 and retired in July 2009. Spruill has been serving as an active/retired judge for the court since then.[2]

Education

Spruill received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1965 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1970.[2]

Career

After graduating from law school, Spruill worked as a clerk for Robert Hemphill of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina from 1970 to 1971. He then worked as an associate for Frank L. Taylor and later practiced law in Cheraw, South Carolina until his election to the court in 1989.[2]
