James H. Ashford

James H. Ashford is a judge of the O'ahu First Circuit of Hawaii. He was appointed by Democratic Gov. David Ige to replace retiring Judge Rhonda A. Nishimura.[1]

He previously served as a judge of the O`ahu First Circuit District Court.

Education

Ashford received his undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College in California and his law degree from Loyola Law School in 1988.[2][3]

Career

Ashford served on the O`ahu First Circuit District Court from 2013 to 2018. He was appointed by Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald in July 2013. Ashford was confirmed by the Hawaii Senate in August 2013.[2][3]

Prior to joining the district court, Ashford was a partner with the firm Cades Schutte.[4]
