McMenis ran for the District 5 seat held by Judge Michael Kinard. He faced opponents Mark Klappenbach and Job Serebrov in the election on March 1.[1]. No candidate received a majority. McMenis and Klappenbach received the most votes and competed in a runoff election on November 8.
