John D. Small is a former acting commissioner of natural resources of Kentucky. He was appointed to the nonpartisan position by Kentucky Secretary of Energy and Environment Charles Snavely on January 4, 2018, to replace Allen Luttrell, who resigned for personal reasons.[1] He left office in 2020, when Gordon Slone was appointed to the position.

Small was appointed to the position of commissioner of natural resources on January 4, 2018, by Kentucky Secretary of Energy and Environment Charles Snavely. Small replaced former commissioner Allen Luttrell, who resigned for personal reasons. Small previously served as the department's deputy commissioner.[1] He left office in 2020.
