Hasa Kingo was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in 2007 and a J.D. from Northwestern University in 2010. Kingo's professional experience includes being the principal court attorney to the Hon. George J. Silver.[1]

Hasa Kingo is a career public servant, devoted husband and father of two. He is an immigrant, proud American citizen, and dedicated New Yorker. After graduating from Northwestern University, Hasa attended the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as the Editor in Chief of the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy. He also interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

After graduating from the Georgetown University Law Center, Hasa began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, where he prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. Since then, he has worked in the New York State Attorney General’s Office as an Assistant Attorney General, and as a court attorney for two New York State Supreme Court Justices.

Hasa is the only candidate running in the 5th Municipal Court District who was named “Most Highly Qualified” by a 2021 New York County Independent Screening Panel.” Hasa has also received the top "Highly Approved" rating from the LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York (LeGaL).
