Rebecca S. Ward is the chief district court judge for the 55th District Court, which presides over Bullitt County in Kentucky.[1] She has served on the court since January 1999 and was re-elected by voters in 2010 and 2014.[2][3][4] Ward's current four-year term expired on January 6, 2019.[5]
In May 2014, Ward was suspended for 30 days without pay for violating the Code of Judicial Conduct. The Judicial Conduct Commission found that Ward engaged in “undignified and discourteous treatment” of persons she dealt with in her official capacity. The Commission also found that Ward failed to disqualify herself in a case where she had a bias, engaged in ex parte contact with attorneys having business in her court, and held individuals for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency without legal authority. Ward's attorney said Ward still intends to seek re-election.[6]

2010
Ward was re-elected to the 55th District Court. She defeated challenger Roy Emerson Welch with 65.92% of the vote on November 2, 2010.[2][7]
Regarding her qualifications as a judge, Ward stated: "In the past 11 years I have handled thousands of cases. In doing so I have always tried to treat each person with respect and fairness. My experience and dedication makes me the qualified person to continue as your District Judge in Bullitt."[8]

Education
Ward received both her undergraduate degree and J.D. from the University of Louisville.[9]
Career
Before she became a judge, Ward worked as an attorney in private practice and served as an assistant county attorney.[10]
