I am a wife and parent of two schoolchildren. I own and operate Red Truck Farm. Although our farm is a relatively small 7 acres, we provide a community-supported agriculture program to 50+ families, produce to 10 restaurants, and 3 grocery stores. We accomplish this by careful management and organization. As the farm owner, I am responsible for the budget, day-to-day operations, and managing 5 employees.

Before farming, I worked as a non-profit director, community facilitator, and youth leadership supervisor. I have supervised others in these positions, responsible for hiring, firing, and facilitating healthy team dynamics.

I have been a volunteer soccer coach with the Pacific Soccer Club. I volunteer at Union Ridge Elementary by collaborating with kindergarten teachers to create a curriculum that teaches children how to plant seeds to grow a salad garden.

  • After five faiiled school bonds, all of our schools are overcrowded. We need a new approach to engaging voters and a community-wide effort to get a bond passed.
  • Our school district is at a crucial juncture. We have a superintendent vacancy, and the school board hires the superintendent. Because of my extensive experience running a business and a nonprofit, I am the right person to help with this critical decision.
  • I am known as a consensus builder who can lead groups to agreement by focusing on the group's larger goals. At a time when school boards face divisive obstacles, this type of leadership is sorely needed.
I am passionate about increasing civic engagement. Our school policies will be more representative of the community when we take the feedback given by the community and include it in our decision-making and if we foster collaborative relationships with the school district community.
School board members hire and monitor the work of the superintendent. They watch over district finances and approve the budget. They formulate and oversee implementation of district policies.
