I grew up in Alexandria where I met and later married my high school sweetheart, Dean. We always knew that we wanted to raise our three children in this community, so when the opportunity presented itself, we moved back to Alexandria so they could attend our exceptional schools. Our oldest started kindergarten at Woodland when it was new and recently graduated from AAHS. Our youngest two are current District 206 students. Our children's educational experience has been nothing short of excellent; I desire that same positive experience for all of our students! I earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing from Gustavus Adolphus College. My 27 year career in public health has provided me experience in working with children and families and has also equipped me with a unique lens into the needs of students. I have been employed by Horizon Public Health for the past 11 years and currently supervise a team of nurses and social workers.
  • As a proud District 206 graduate with children in the district, I am motivated to make an impact not only for my own children but for all students and am committed to continuing our district’s tradition of excellence. We are fortunate to have great schools with environments that foster student success. We have skilled educators, strong academic programs with personalized instruction, safe and inclusive school cultures, and engaged parents. We have strong leadership that prioritizes the student experience and is committed to continuous improvement, innovation, accountability and transparency.
  • As the current chair of the Alexandria School Board, my fellow board members and I work to ensure that all students have access to a quality education that not only promotes academic mastery but also encourages them to find their passion, develop to their full potential and be successful in life. I am grateful to the many individuals and businesses that invest their time and talents in our schools, these amazing community partnerships are the envy of other districts.
  • If elected, my top three priorities would be ensuring that all students have access to high quality education, prioritizing the student experience, and the responsible alignment of resources with our mission and vision. All three of these will be important to remaining competitive in our current environment of increased school choice options and declining birth rates which result in enrollment and revenue issues.
I am passionate about public policy that promotes excellence in student achievement for all Minnesota students and supports efficient and effective school management. Our school district partners with the Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA), a leading advocate for public education that represents Minnesota school boards both at the state and national level. MSBA develops their legislative platform with input from school board members like myself and others across the state, and they keep us updated on legislative bills, events and issues at the state Capitol.
I am a team player who embraces collaboration and consensus building. I value the use of data-driven decision making. I take seriously the responsibilities of the care of the district, the efficient use of resources entrusted to the district by our taxpayers, as well as careful, strategic thought to the long-term direction of the district.
I have not sought nor been endorsed by any organizations or individuals.
I take great pride in advocating for the needs of all students and find it important to listen to, respect, and value diverse perspectives. I value strong relationships with families and teachers as well as other stakeholders and welcome conversation with all to understand the various perspectives of those impacted by our decisions. I engage with parents, students, staff and others out in the community and am also available by phone and email.
