|Armon Alex is a Corpus Christi Tejano native and proud Texan. He’s a Hall of Fame graduate from Foy H. Moody High School and attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for Marine Biology & Political Science. For close to a decade he’s worked with non-profit organizations on various boards & committees to better serve their people and missions. Armon Alex has a strong passion for public service, initially being appointed to the City of Corpus Christi’s Island Strategic Action Committee in 2019, working to develop and implement an equitable approach to the Padre Island Development Plan.
After a few years of engaging in public comment periods, collaborating with community organizations, writing city proclamations and participating in community outreach sessions that push towards better quality of life in Corpus, he was appointed to the Mayor’s Environmental Task Force where he was soon elected as the Vice-Chair by his fellow members in 2021. He believes every citizen of Corpus Christi plays a critical role in City Government, where public oversight is essential to best serve the needs and vision of our community. That vision is to be determined by the citizens of Corpus Christi, and not by big business, big corporations and certainly not heavy industry. He has NO ties to such entities.
- A Diverse Economy. We need to focus on enticing & building new businesses and jobs for our city. For a prosperous future, we need a wide range of sustainable jobs that will provide our citizens with careers to help boost our economy. We need to seek out & attain additional funding from the state and federal governments, and support existing businesses flourish by making it easier for them to do business in our city. #SupportLocalCC
- A Transparent Government. Our government is supposed to work for us, the hard working people of this city. There should be no reason why residents aren’t able to access information about what our city government is working on or its programs in District 3. We need better transparency on the city level so we can build the trust and understanding between our community and local government. #TransparentCorpus
- A Pollution Free City. As a Coastal Community, we are lucky enough to be situated near two beautiful bodies of water, the Corpus Christi Bay & the Gulf of Mexico. We rely on both of these for leisure, recreation, & business. We need to make sure we’re protecting our precious resources by taking a more aggressive approach to city pollution, city programming, and environmental maintenance & cleaning. #PollutionFreeCorpus
Firstly, Climate Change is real. As a coastal community we stand to be the most at risk. Within the past few years we’ve seen increases in extreme weather conditions ranging from drought to winter storms. We need to make sure our city is prepared for the impacts of climate change. Our city currently has no plan in place. We need a city wide Climate Action Plan like the rest of the major cities in Texas. #CorpusClimatePlan
