Three of the nine at-large seats on the Wappingers Central School District Board of Education were up for general election on May 19, 2015. The election shared the ballot with the school district's annual budget vote. Voters could vote for all three seats in this election on a joint ballot. The three candidates who received the most votes were elected to the board.

The seats held by incumbents Ved Shravah, Robert Rubin and Douglass Bitteker were on the ballot. Bitteker did not file to run for re-election, ensuring at least one newcomer would join the board. Shravah and Rubin faced four challengers—Deborah Torres Henning, Karen Mauhs Karath, Anne LaValle and Babu Munusamy—in their bids for re-election.

Ultimately, Rubin retained his seat while Shravah was defeated. Returning candidate LaValle and newcomer Karath won the other two seats up for election.

Campaign themes

2015

Munusamy submitted the following platform to the Wappingers Central School District 2015 spring newsletter:

Schools must provide a safe and positive learning environment to invigorate kids’ minds. We must encourage parents’ involvement in a child’s life at early age for rewarding education and bright future. Efficient budgeting and good communication between stakeholders and board members lead to positive understanding and strong relationship. We need to maintain the student-to-teacher ratio low for academic achievement. We must keep taxes to a minimum without compromising quality and cutting programs. We all must stand united to encourage and support well designed curriculum and tests to measure the quality of education. Fostering the latest technologies in the classroom enhances better learning, creativity of the children, productivity, and paves the way to success.[7]
